ZNF83 also known as Zinc Finger Protein 83 is a protein with a molecular mass of approximately 70 kDa. It functions mechanically as a transcription factor facilitating the binding to specific DNA sequences through its zinc finger motifs. These motifs consist of sequences that enable ZNF83 to interact with DNA and regulate gene expression. The expression of ZNF83 is observed in various tissues with higher levels noted in certain regions of the brain including the cerebral cortex.
Biological function summary

ZNF83 plays a role in modulating gene transcription by binding to DNA influencing the expression of genes involved in multiple cellular processes. ZNF83 does not typically form part of a known multimeric complex but functions independently to regulate specific target genes. By controlling gene expression ZNF83 impacts cell differentiation and development with its activity being integral to normal developmental processes.
