IHC antibody solutions
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is an immunostaining technique which selectively identifies antigens in tissues. High-quality, specific antibodies are essential to run a successful IHC experiment.
IHC is widely used in research and diagnostics to study the pathophysiology of both normal biological processes and disease states. IHC is routinely used in histopathology to detect the presence and localization of specific protein markers within a patient tissue sample. This is critical to enable accurate diagnosis, tumor classification, prognosis and treatment plans.
Abcam’s catalog offers an extensive portfolio of IHC antibodies validated to the highest industry standards to allow your research to move faster.
Recombinant antibodies
IHC has become an essential technique in clinical diagnostics. Robust, reliable, and reproducible antibodies are essential for running good IHC experiments. Our portfolio of recombinant rabbit antibodies offers over 8,700 antibodies, including the broadest range of IHC antibodies in the immuno-oncology field.
Our antibodies are validated in IHC with industry-leading processes so you can trust your reagents and your results. Antibodies are tested—during clone screening as well as final QC stages—on tissue microarrays (TMAs) comprising over 15 human normal tissue types and 15 human cancer types, all in duplicates. For markers of clinical relevance, disease-specific TMAs are also used as part of the validation process (eg breast cancer TMAs including different cancer subtypes like carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, invasive ductal carcinoma etc). Mouse and rat tissues are also included to assess species cross-reactivity where needed.

Multiplex-ready antibodies
IHC is a powerful widely used diagnostic tool in histopathology, but analysis is limited to only one marker per tissue section. Multiplex IHC (mIHC) combines the power of IHC with the ability to image several markers within the same tissue section.
The extensive validation of our portfolio of recombinant IHC antibodies ensures that our products are compatible with many mIHC platforms (eg Akoya, Nanostring, 10X Genomics).
We also offer a large portfolio of IHC-validated antibodies conjugated with fluorescent dyes that allow staining of multiple markers on the same tissue section without the need for a secondary antibody, streamlining the protocol and saving you time.
