Product details
Ensure the validity of your result using our native human VWF protein ab88533 as a positive control in SDS-PAGE.
Required thawing procedure:
- Remove the vial from frozen storage and place it into a 37°C water bath
- Leave the vial in the water bath undisturbed for two minutes after the disappearance of the last of the frozen material
- Remove the vial from the water bath and mix by gentle agitation or gentle mixing with a pipette.
If a precipitate is observed, continue to warm the vial in the 37°C water bath for an additional 2 to 3 minutes and mix again

General info
Function
The protein expressed by the gene VWF is important for maintaining hemostasis. It promotes platelet adhesion at sites of vascular injury by forming a molecular bridge between the sub-endothelial collagen matrix and the platelet-surface receptor complex GPIb-IX-V. Additionally, it acts as a chaperone for coagulation factor VIII, delivering it to the injury site, stabilizing its heterodimeric structure, and protecting it from premature clearance from plasma. This supplementary information is collated from multiple sources and compiled automatically.
Post-translational modifications
All cysteine residues are involved in intrachain or interchain disulfide bonds.. N- and O-glycosylated.
