General info
Function
Plays multiple roles in cell cycle progression, cytokinesis and apoptosis. Involved in pre-mRNA splicing in a kinase activity-dependent manner. Isoform 7 may act as a negative regulator of normal cell cycle progression.
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the protein kinase superfamily. CMGC Ser/Thr protein kinase family. CDC2/CDKX subfamily.
Post-translational modifications
During FAS- or TNF-induced apoptosis, isoform SV9 is cleaved by caspases to produce p110C, a fragment that contains the C-terminal kinase domain.. Phosphorylation at Ser-115 creates a binding site for 14-3-3 proteins. p110C can be autophosphorylated.
