Biological function summary
EEF1D interacts with other components of the translational machinery to form the elongation factor complex which is essential for efficient protein biosynthesis. EEF1D's interaction with the EF1B complex supports the recycling of guanine nucleotides which prepares EF1A for reuse in additional rounds of protein elongation. This collaboration within the machinery highlights EEF1D's importance in maintaining proper protein synthesis rates which are important for cellular growth and repair processes.
Pathways
EEF1D is integral in the translation and protein metabolism pathways. The protein's roles align closely with those of EEF1A and EEF1B ensuring smooth continuation of the elongation phase of protein synthesis. Its participation in these pathways highlights how alterations in EEF1D function might disrupt broader cellular processes impacting how cells respond to genetic instructions and manage protein construction workflows.

General info
Function
Isoform 1. EF-1-beta and EF-1-delta stimulate the exchange of GDP bound to EF-1-alpha to GTP, regenerating EF-1-alpha for another round of transfer of aminoacyl-tRNAs to the ribosome.. Isoform 2. Regulates induction of heat-shock-responsive genes through association with heat shock transcription factors and direct DNA-binding at heat shock promoter elements (HSE).
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the EF-1-beta/EF-1-delta family.
