Biological function summary
FAM150A engages in a variety of essential cellular functions. It does not appear to form part of any larger protein complex but its function is integral to cellular signaling. FAM150A contributes significantly to communication processes between cells influencing cellular responses and adaptations in specific tissue environments.
Pathways
FAM150A plays roles in signal transduction processes. It integrates into pathways like the AKT signaling pathway influencing cellular growth and survival. FAM150A has some interaction with proteins such as the receptor Tyrosine kinase. These interactions mark its importance in maintaining cellular integrity and regulation.

General info
Function
Cytokine that acts as a physiological ligand for receptor tyrosine kinase LTK, leading to its activation (PubMed : 25331893, PubMed : 26418745, PubMed : 26630010, PubMed : 34646012, PubMed : 34819673). Monomeric ALKAL1 binds to LTK, leading to LTK homodimerization and activation (PubMed : 34646012, PubMed : 34819673). In contrast to ALKAL2, does not act as a potent physiological ligand for ALK (PubMed : 26418745, PubMed : 34646012).
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the ALKAL family.
