Biological function summary
FDCSP plays an important role in the organization of lymphoid follicles and the maintenance of the lymph node microenvironment. It associates with the extracellular matrix supporting communication between dendritic cells and other immune cells. Although not part of a large complex FDCSP influences the network surrounding follicular dendritic cells. This role aids in antigen presentation and lymphocyte activation key elements in the adaptive immune response.
Pathways
FDCSP connects closely with immune response pathways particularly those regulating antigen presentation and lymphocyte activation. It interacts indirectly with proteins involved in the complement system such as C3 and with receptors on B-lymphocytes. This interaction aids in creating a robust immune response by enhancing antigen presentation and promoting B cell maturation within germinal centers.
