Functional Studies - Recombinant human GDNF protein (Active) (AB259417)

Fully biologically active determined by the dose dependent increase in proliferation of SHSY-5Y cells in the presence of GFRα.

ED50 is ≤9.55 ng/ml, coresponding to a specific activity of 1.05 x 105 units/mg.

Cell based assay testing is performed on the first lot of protein only and is provided as a reference for protein activity; subsequent lots of protein must pass all biophysical quality control parameters that meet the same parameters as the first lot.

General info

Function

Neurotrophic factor that enhances survival and morphological differentiation of dopaminergic neurons and increases their high-affinity dopamine uptake (PubMed : 8493557). Acts by binding to its coreceptor, GFRA1, leading to autophosphorylation and activation of the RET receptor (PubMed : 10829012, PubMed : 25242331, PubMed : 31535977). Involved in the development of the neural crest (PubMed : 15242795).

Sequence similarities

Belongs to the TGF-beta family. GDNF subfamily.
