GLIS1 also known as GLI-Similar 1 is a Krüppel-like zinc finger protein with a mass of approximately 91 kDa. It acts as a transcription factor that regulates gene expression by binding to specific DNA sequences. GLIS1 is expressed mainly in pluripotent stem cells and certain adult tissues including the brain and kidney.
