Biological function summary
GRK7 plays an important part in the regulation of phototransduction processes in the cone cells. It participates in the deactivation of photopigments after their activation by light facilitating the rapid response of cone cells to changes in light stimuli. GRK7 does this by becoming part of a regulatory complex that involves the phosphorylation of opsin molecules. This complex is essential for the adaptation of cone cells to different light intensities and maintaining visual acuity.
