OCIAD2 also known as ovarian cancer immunoreactive antigen domain containing 2 is a protein found in humans. It has a molecular mass of approximately 29 kDa. OCIAD2 is expressed in various tissues including the ovary breast and kidney. It localizes mainly in the cytoplasm and mitochondria suggesting a role in cellular processes related to these organelles.
OCIAD2 impacts cellular processes through its involvement in cell differentiation and cellular stress responses. It may associate with multiprotein complexes that regulate these functions. Studies indicate OCIAD2 interacts with mitochondrial outer membrane components which hints it might play a role in mitochondrial dynamics. Through these interactions OCIAD2 contributes to maintaining cellular homeostasis during stress.
OCIAD2 participates in pathways like oxidative phosphorylation and apoptosis. These pathways are important for cellular energy production and programmed cell death.
