Product details
While the standard is the same as the one provided in the corresponding SimpleStep ELISA Kit, it cannot be treated as the consumable provided with our SimpleStep ELISA Kit due to differences in its concentration calibration.
Abcam guarantee that this protein standard is suitable for use in a sandwich ELISA. Individual results may vary due to differences in technique, laboratory equipment, buffers, and other experimental factors. The detection range provided for this protein standard is based on initial sandwich ELISA validation data.
The protein concentration is the concentration after validation on our sandwich ELISA platform. This Standard protein is guaranteed to work with our Capture and Detector antibodies in sELISA. Please contact our Scientific Supportteam to know which antibody pair is suitable for this protein.

Biological function summary
PLGF plays an important role in the modulation of angiogenesis. It does not work alone; it often acts in synergy with VEGF-A to regulate blood vessel growth. PLGF has the ability to promote the proliferation and migration of endothelial cells which are essential components for blood vessel formation. Additionally its expressions adapt depending on physiological conditions like in pregnancy where it supports placental vascular development. Through its actions PLGF influences vascular permeability and contributes to physiological and pathological processes linked to blood vessel formation.
Pathways
PLGF is significant in the VEGF signaling pathway which controls angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis. It interacts with VEGFR-1 to mediate effects on endothelial cell activity. This interaction is important because VEGFR-1 acts as a decoy receptor modulating VEGF-A signaling. Another important pathway where PLGF is involved is the inflammatory response pathway where it influences monocyte migration and cytokine production acting closely with inflammation-related proteins.

General info
Function
Growth factor active in angiogenesis and endothelial cell growth, stimulating their proliferation and migration. It binds to the receptor FLT1/VEGFR-1. Isoform PlGF-2 binds NRP1/neuropilin-1 and NRP2/neuropilin-2 in a heparin-dependent manner. Also promotes cell tumor growth.
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the PDGF/VEGF growth factor family.
Post-translational modifications
N-glycosylated.
