Chymotrypsin-C
Function
Regulates activation and degradation of trypsinogens and procarboxypeptidases by targeting specific cleavage sites within their zymogen precursors (By similarity). Has chymotrypsin-type protease activity and hypocalcemic activity (By similarity). Cleaves TRY4 and TRY5 and thereby inhibits their autoactivation (By similarity).
Sequence Similarities
Belongs to the peptidase S1 family. Elastase subfamily.
Tissue Specificity
Pancreas.
