Has mitogenic activity and may be involved in maintaining the integrity of the gastric mucosal epithelium.

Belongs to the gastrokine family.

Expressed in the stomach (PubMed:15221938). Highly expressed specifically in surface cells of the antrum mucosa from where it is secreted.
