HELZ2
Domain
Contains 5 Leu-Xaa-Xaa-Leu-Leu (LXXLL) motifs. These motifs are not required for interaction with PPARG.
Function
Can degrade highly structured RNAs through its concerted ATP-dependent RNA helicase and 3' to 5' exoribonuclease activities (PubMed:37602378). Shows a strong preference for pyrimidine over purine residues for its nuclease activity (PubMed:37602378). Acts as a transcriptional coactivator for a number of nuclear receptors including PPARA, PPARG, THRA, THRB and RXRA (PubMed:16239304, PubMed:23525231).
Sequence Similarities
Belongs to the DNA2/NAM7 helicase family.
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in various tissues including heart, pancreas, skeletal muscle, colon, spleen, liver, kidney, lung, peripheral blood and placenta.
Cellular localization
- Cytoplasm
