Thyroid hormone-binding protein. Probably transports thyroxine from the bloodstream to the brain.
Post-translational modifications
Sulfonation of the reactive cysteine Cys-30 enhances the stability of the native conformation of TTR, avoiding misassembly of the protein leading to amyloid formation.
