      Cell surface transmembrane ligand for Eph receptors, a family of receptor tyrosine kinases which are crucial for migration, repulsion and adhesion during neuronal, vascular and epithelial development. Binds promiscuously Eph receptors residing on adjacent cells, leading to contact-dependent bidirectional signaling into neighboring cells. The signaling pathway downstream of the receptor is referred to as forward signaling while the signaling pathway downstream of the ephrin ligand is referred to as reverse signaling. Binds to receptor tyrosine kinase including EPHA4, EPHA3 and EPHB4. Together with EPHB4 plays a central role in heart morphogenesis and angiogenesis through regulation of cell adhesion and cell migration. EPHB4-mediated forward signaling controls cellular repulsion and segregation from EFNB2-expressing cells. May play a role in constraining the orientation of longitudinally projecting axons.
      (Microbial infection) Acts as a receptor for Hendra virus and Nipah virus.

    • Immunofluorescent analysis of 4% paraformaldehyde-fixed HEK293 cells labeling Ephrin B2 with ab150411 at 1/100 dilution. The cells were permeabilised with 0.1% Triton X. Anti-rabbit Alexa Fluor® 488 (ab150077) at 1/1000 dilution was used as the secondary antibody (green). The confocal image shows membrane and cytoplasmic staining on HEK293 cell line. The nuclear counter stain is DAPI (blue). Tubulin is detected with ab7291 (anti-Tubulin mouse mAb) at 1/1000 and anti-mouse Alexa Fluor® 594 (ab150120) at 1/1000 dilution (red).
      The negative controls are as follows:
      1. ab150411 at 1/1000 dilution followed by anti-mouse Alexa Fluor® 594 (ab150120) at 1/1000 dilution.
      2. ab7291 (anti-Tubulin mouse mAb) at 1/1000 dilution followed by anti-rabbit Alexa Fluor® 488 (ab150077) at 1/1000 dilution.

      This data was developed using the same antibody clone in a different buffer formulation containing PBS, BSA, glycerol, and sodium azide (ab150411).

    • Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence analysis of A431 (Human epidermoid carcinoma cell line) cells labeling Ephrin B2 with purified ab150411 at a dilution of 1/100. Cells were fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde and permeabilized with 0.1% Triton X-100. ab150077, an Alexa Fluor® 488-conjugated goat anti-rabbit IgG (1/1000) was used as the secondary antibody. DAPI (blue) was used as the nuclear counterstain. ab7291, a mouse anti-tubulin (1/1000) and ab150120, an Alexa Fluor® 594-conjugated goat anti-mouse IgG (1/1000) were also used.

      Control 1: Primary antibody (1/100) and secondary antibody, ab150120, an Alexa Fluor® 594-conjugated goat anti-mouse IgG (1/1000).

      Control 2: ab7291 (1/1000) and secondary antibody, ab150077, an Alexa Fluor® 488-conjugated goat anti-rabbit IgG (1/1000).
