  • Relevance
    SLC27A1 (Solute carrier family 27 member 1) is involved in translocation of long-chain fatty acids (LFCA) across the plasma membrane. SLC27A1 may act directly as a bona fide transporter, or alternatively, in a cytoplasmic or membrane-associated multimeric protein complex to trap and draw fatty acids towards accumulation. It also plays a pivotal role in regulating available LFCA substrates from exogenous sources in tissues undergoing high levels of beta-oxidation or triglyceride synthesis and may be involved in regulation of cholesterol metabolism.

  • ICC/IF image of ab81875 stained HeLa cells. The cells were 4% formaldehyde fixed (10 min) and then incubated in 1%BSA / 10% normal goat serum / 0.3M glycine in 0.1% PBS-Tween for 1h to permeabilise the cells and block non-specific protein-protein interactions. The cells were then incubated with the antibody ab81875 at 1µg/ml overnight at +4°C. The secondary antibody (green) was Alexa Fluor® 488 goat anti- rabbit IgG (H+L) used at a 1/1000 dilution for 1h. Alexa Fluor® 594 WGA was used to label plasma membranes (red) at a 1/200 dilution for 1h. DAPI was used to stain the cell nuclei (blue) at a concentration of 1.43µM. This antibody also gave a positive result in This antibody also gave a positive result in Hek293, HepG2, and MCF-7 formaldehyde (4%, 10min) fixed cells at 1ug/ml, and also in HeLa, Hek293, HepG2, and MCF-7 Methanol (100%, 5min) fixed cells at 1ug/ml.
