Our lab was looking for an anti-Giantin antibody produced in a species other than rabbit to use for immunofluorescence of mouse cells. Abcam certifies this product for immunofluorescence of rat and human cells. Data for mouse cells was not yet available. Considering the amino acid similarity between the immunogen and mouse Giantin, we decided to test this product. To do so, we did a co-immunostaining with another abcam antibody (ab24586, red signal) we knew recognizes both mouse and human Giantin. As can be seen in the image, ab37266 (green signal), worked great in human cells (HUVECS), but did not produce any signal at all in mouse cells (NIH3T3), indicating it does not recognize mouse Giantin.
Rating: 1 star for mouse cells, 5 stars for human cells.
Thank you for your valuable feedback and for participating in our Abtrial testing program. We are sorry to hear that this antibody has not given you good results in mouse sample. As you mentioned, this antibody may not be suitable for mouse sample. We will welcome more data or suggestion from our customers.
