Thank you for your inquiry.
The immunogenic peptide from human used to generate antibody ab61012 has 70% identity and 100% homology to cow and 60% identity and 70% homology to pig. Therefore, this antibody is more likely to cross-react with the cow ortholog than with the pig protein.
The immunogenic peptide from human used to generate antibody ab61036 has 100% identity with both cow and pig. Thus, we expect this antibody to cross-react with both cow and pig.
Unfortunately, the epitope recognised by the monoclonal antibody ab106698 has not been mapped at this time. However, the human GPBB shares sequence similarities between 81% and 93% with the various forms of bovine GPBB (SwissProtIDs: brain Q3B7M9, muscle P79334, liver Q0VCM4) and 83% with the pig ortholog (Q19PY2). Therefore, this antibody might indeed cross-react with pig and cow. Please note that this antibody cross reacts with GPMM.
If the customer would like to test the species cross-reactivity he is eligible for our testing discount program. Please see details below for further information.
Whereas ab106698 is guaranteed to work in both Western blot and IHC-P, the rabbit polyclonals ab61012 and ab61036 have not been tested in Western blot yet. In this case the customer would also qualify for the testing discount program.
My recommendation for secondary antibodies that are suitable for IHC-P and Western blot are the following HRP-conjugated antibodies which are pre-absorbed to reduce unspecific binding:
for the rabbit polyclonal antibodies: ab97080 or ab97085

As mentioned above, the GPBB antibodies have not been tested yet in the respective species or applications. Thus, I can offer a discount off a future purchase if the customer buys one or more of them now, test them in cow/pig/WB and submit feedback to us in the form of an Abreview. It doesn’t matter whether the Abreview is positive or negative, we would just really like to receive the feedback. The discount would be to the value of 1 free primary antibody (for each antibody tested).
If the customer is interested in this offer, please follow these steps:
1. Reply to this e-mail to let me know which antibody they would like to test in cow/pig/WB. I will then send a discount code. This code must be issued before purchasing so please wait for my reply before ordering.
2. Purchase them either by phone, fax, or online (www.abcam.com).
3. Test it in cow/pig/WB.
4. Let us know the results, positive or negative, using our Abreview system (this will take about 10 minutes and images are great if you have them!). To find out more about our Abreview system, please visit: https://www.abcam.com/abreviews.
5. After the review is submitted to us, the discount code becomes active. Simply place your new order by phone, fax, or on the web and mention the discount code. The discount can be redeemed for any primary antibody ordered and the discount code is valid for 4 months after issue.
We are always pleased to obtain feedback about our products and any information is greatly appreciated! Even if the antibody turns out to be unsuitable for cow/pig/WB, you will still receive the discount on your next purchase after your Abreview has been submitted.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this offer and I would be happy to help you further.
