  • General notes

The Life Science industry has been in the grips of a reproducibility crisis for a number of years. Abcam is leading the way in addressing the problem with our range of recombinant monoclonal antibodies and knockout edited cell lines for gold-standard validation.

One factor contributing to the crisis is the use of antibodies that are not suitable. This can lead to misleading results and the use of incorrect data informing project assumptions and direction. To help address this challenge, we have introduced an application and species grid on our primary antibody datasheets to make it easy to simplify identification of the right antibody for your needs.

Target

  • Function

Could be involved in cell-cell interactions.
  • Tissue specificity

Widely distributed with highest levels found in thyroid gland, brain and heart. Expressed in a great number of tumor cells.
  • Involvement in disease

Polymicrogyria, bilateral frontoparietal (BFPP) [MIM:606854]: A malformation of the cortex in which the brain surface is irregular and characterized by an excessive number of small gyri with abnormal lamination, most severe in the frontoparietal regions. BFPP clinical manifestations include developmental and psychomotor delay, cerebellar and pyramidal signs, truncal ataxia, seizures, hyperreflexia. Polymicrogyria is a heterogeneous disorder, considered to be the result of postmigratory abnormal cortical organization. Note=The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry.
  • Sequence similarities

Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 2 family. LN-TM7 subfamily.
    Contains 1 GPS domain.
  • Post-translational
    modifications

The endogenous protein is proteolytically cleaved into 2 subunits, an extracellular subunit and a seven-transmembrane subunit.
  • Cellular localization

    Cell membrane.

    Question

Dear Sir/Madame, For our study we need to perform flow cytometry on murine Gpr56. Since the human and murine GPR56 protein have 87% homology we are interested in the antibody you are offering (ab88700). However, we would like to know the exact protocol that were used for the flow cytometry analysis show in the datasheet figure, specifically the secondary antibody, the control primary antibody, the antibody dilutions, and whether you have any staining results beside whats shown in the datasheet. Since we are using murine cells, we would like to first check the background signal level of the anti-mouse antibody used. We would really appreciate it if you could provide us small amounts of antibodies for a single analysis. Thank you in advance. Kind regards,

    Answer

    Thank you for contacting us.

Because we carry over 90,000 products, it isn't feasible for us to keep small sample sizes of our products, and therefore I am not able to offer a test sample of ab88700.

However, if you are interested in testing ab88700 in Flow Cytometry, I would be happy to offer a discount code to test it in this technique and submit your feedback to us.

Therefore, I can offer a discount off a future purchase if you buy ab88700 now, test it in Flow Cytometry and submit feedback to us in the form of an Abreview. It doesn’t matter whether the Abreview is positive or negative, we would just really like to receive your feedback. The discount would be to the value of 1 free primary antibody.

Reply to this email, letting us know you are interested in testing this product.
Our scientists will email you an inactive personal discount code for the value of the product.
Purchase and test the product at the regular price.
Submit your results, noting your AbTrial discount code in your Abreview.
Once the Abreview is submitted, the discount code will become active.
Apply your discount code on your next order to receive that value off.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this offer and I would be happy to help you further.
