General notes
Ab226042 is the carrier-free version of ab108613. This format is designed for use in antibody labeling, including fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, enzymes.
Our carrier-free formats are supplied in a buffer free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol for higher conjugation efficiency.
Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with <1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.
ab226042 is compatible with the Maxpar® Antibody Labeling Kit from Fluidigm.
Maxpar® is a trademark of Fluidigm Canada Inc.
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:
- - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
- - Improved sensitivity and specificity
- - Long-term security of supply
- - Animal-free production

Applications
Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab226042 in the following tested applications.
The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
Application | Abreviews | Notes |
---|---|---|
IHC-P | Use at an assay dependent concentration. Perform heat mediated antigen retrieval before commencing with IHC staining protocol. See IHC antigen retrieval protocols. (Heat to 98°C, allow to cool for 10-20 minutes). The mouse and rat recommendation is based on the WB results. We do not guarantee IHC-P for mouse and rat. |
|
WB | Use at an assay dependent concentration. Detects a band of approximately 78 kDa (predicted molecular weight: 72 kDa). |
Target
-
Function
Probably plays a role in facilitating the assembly of multimeric protein complexes inside the endoplasmic reticulum. Involved in the correct folding of proteins and degradation of misfolded proteins via its interaction with DNAJC10, probably to facilitate the release of DNAJC10 from its substrate. -
Involvement in disease
Autoantigen in rheumatoid arthritis. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the heat shock protein 70 family. -
Cellular localization
Endoplasmic reticulum lumen. Melanosome. Cytoplasm. Identified by mass spectrometry in melanosome fractions from stage I to stage IV. - Information by UniProt

Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections) - Anti-GRP78 BiP antibody [EPR4040(2)] - BSA and Azide free (ab226042)
Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections) analysis of Human ovarian cancer tissue sections labeling GRP78 BiP with Purified ab108613 at 1:500 dilution (1.17 µg/ml). Heat mediated antigen retrieval was performed using ab93684 (Tris/EDTA buffer, pH 9.0). ImmunoHistoProbe one step HRP Polymer (ready to use) was used as the secondary antibody. Negative control: PBS instead of the primary antibody. Hematoxylinwas used as a counterstain.
This data was developed using the same antibody clone in a different buffer formulation containing PBS, BSA, glycerol, and sodium azide (ab108613).
