Target

  • Function
Responsible for the deacetylation of lysine residues on the N-terminal part of the core histones (H2A, H2B, H3 and H4). Histone deacetylation gives a tag for epigenetic repression and plays an important role in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression and developmental events. Histone deacetylases act via the formation of large multiprotein complexes.
  • Tissue specificity
Weakly expressed in most tissues. Strongly expressed in brain, heart, skeletal muscle, kidney and testis.
  • Sequence similarities
Belongs to the histone deacetylase family.
  • Cellular localization
    Nucleus. Predominantly nuclear.

Answer

Thank you for your reply.

Any of the alternatives anti HDAC11 validated in WB with mouse samples should work as stated on the datasheet. There are 4 https://www.abcam.com/index.html?pageconfig=searchresults&search=HDAC11&pt=1&sk=react&sv=2&sn=Mouse&l=2&fViewMore=1 that fit your experiment set up.

If you want to have a look at https://www.abcam.com/HDAC11-antibody-ab47036.html, it has positive feedback from another user in WB. .

In any case, the product offered as a replacement is also covered by our Abpromise guarantee. Should you have any problem using it, we will replace it or reimburse it.

I look forward to receiving your reply. Please do not hesitate to send me any further requests.

Answer

Thank you very much for taking the time to complete our questionnaire and sending the images.

I am sorry to hear you have been experiencing problems with one of our antibodies. The quality of our products is important to us and I would like to reassure you that we investigate all customer complaints.

The protocol sent seems correct to me, and it is, as you mentioned, the recommended for this particular product.

Just to make sure the source of the problem is not the primary antibody, have you run a non primary control (incubating just the secondary) to determine whether the unspecific bands could be due to the secondary?

In any case, I appreciate the time you have spent in the laboratory and understand your concerns. It is regrettable the results have not been successful.

I apologise for the inconvenience and am pleased to offer you a free of charge replacement for the same antibody, or for an alternative product against the same target if preferred:

https://www.abcam.com/index.html?pageconfig=searchresults&search=HDAC11&pt=1&sk=react&sv=21&sn=Human&l=2&fViewMore=1

In case you don’t want any of these options, you could also choose a different product, a reimbursement or a credit note in compensation.

Thank you for your cooperation. I look forward to hearing from you with details of how you would like to proceed.

Answer

Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately I do not have access to the Bradbury publication. However, I can tell you that ab18973; Rabbit polyclonal to HDAC11 was not in our catalogue until 02 Nov 05. Therefore given the date of publication I consider it most likely that this is an error in the print and that they used the monoclonal, ab13694 as cited on the datasheet; published our website on 01 Jul 04. I hope this information helps, please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.
