Target

  • Relevance

Hepatitis C Virus is a positive, single stranded RNA virus in the Flaviviridae family. The genome is approximately 10,000 nucleotides and encodes a single polyprotein of about 3,000 amino acids. The polyprotein is processed by host cell and viral proteases into three major structural proteins and several non structural proteins necessary for viral replication. Several different genotypes of HCV with slightly different genomic sequences have since been identified that correlate with differences in response to treatment with interferon alpha.

    Question

I am searching for an antibody to Hepatitis C strain 2a for use with Western blotting. I see that you have several HCV antibodies but could only find information regarding which strain they were raised against for a few. An HCV core protein antibody may be suitable from another strain if it can be used in Western blotting assays but one specifically raised against strain 2a would be best. I would appreciate any further information you might be able to provide and thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

    Answer

Thank you for your enquiry. I looked up some Hepatitis C Virus antibodies that may be of interest to you and the information is listed below. It does not appear that we have one that is specific for strain 2a or has even bee tested for reactivity with that strain. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions. Ab20773 - Goat polyclonal to Hepatitis C Virus NS5: Immunogen used was recombinant NS5 a&b genotype 1a (100% of a and 70% of b). This antibody has not been tested for reactivity to genotype 2a. Ab1035 - Rabbit polyclonal to Hepatitis C Virus: Immunogen used was a peptide corresponding to amino acids 33-43 of Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) core protein C3. Ab1033 - Rabbit polyclonal to Hepatitis C Virus: Immunogen used was a peptide corresponding to amino acids 9-21 of Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) core protein C1. For ab1035 and ab1033, strain 2a hasn't been tested, but the understanding is that the sequences derived from core proteins C1 and C3 which were used for immunization are well conserved in the different strains of Hepatitis C virus. Therefore, it is likely that these antibodies will react with Hepatitis C strain 2a. Ab18662 - Mouse monoclonal [24-8 ] to Hepatitis C Virus: Immunogen used was a highly antigenic polypeptide consisting of essential sequences of at least 60 residues in length, which were selected from genes encoding the NS-3 region of Chinese HCV strains. This antibody is not hepatitis C virus[HCV] strain specific, and will recognize the NS3 of HCV strains. If the NS3 variation has been observed in this strain, it may cause the weaker/or non reaction when using this antibody, in the case of the variation is matched the epitope region or interfered the Antibody-Antigen binding-reaction site/sequences. Ab27791 - Goat polyclonal to Hepatitis C Virus: Immunogen used was recombinant chimeric HCV polyprotein (60 kDa). This antibody product will react with various HCV, and the reaction is not HCV strain specific.
