This antibody was tested against titrations of antigen (full length recombinant protein purified from E. coli) and is able to recognize 0.2 nM. The antibody was also tested against yeast protein preps from wild-type and hmo1 deletion strains, and recognizes a protein of the predicted MW in wt, which is absent in the Hmo1 deletion prep. Moreover, protein preps from strains with epitope tagged Hmo1 were tested. The recognized bands migrate at the appropriate MW for the epitope tagged construct, demonstrating the specificity of the antibody.

Hmo1 is a DNA-binding protein that is probably part of the rDNA transcription apparatus. It acts synergetically with the RPA49 subunit of RNA polymerase I during rDNA transcription. It may participate in mutagenesis control.
