Target

  • Relevance

The H-H-H-H-H-H motif is used as a tag on many recombinant proteins to facilitate purification. The antibody recognizes the His-tag fused to the amino- or carboxy- termini of targeted proteins in transfected or transformed cells.
  • Cellular localization

Depends upon the localization of the parent protein tagged with hexahistidine.
  • Alternative names

    Question

Customer using Goat polyclonal to 6X His tag for ELISA. Wants to coat nickle plate with this antibody. Then detect a mutant protein with his tag on (no antibodies against this protein). Will antibody still recognise bound protien in ELISA?

    Answer

I feel the best option would be for you to bind your mutant protein to the nickel plate. The ab1269 antibody can then be used to detect the his-tag on your mutant protein. It then leaves the HRP on the antibody free for detection. If you coat the plate with the ab1269 antibody, it will bind your mutant protein, but without a secondary antibody, you may have no means of detecting this.
