Applications
Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab215783 in the following tested applications.
The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
Application | Abreviews | Notes |

WB | 1/5000. Detects a band of approximately 18 kDa (predicted molecular weight: 14 kDa). |
Target

Function
Non-amyloid component of senile plaques found in Alzheimer disease. Could act as a regulator of SNCA aggregation process. Protects neurons from staurosporine and 6-hydroxy dopamine (6OHDA)-stimulated caspase activation in a p53/TP53-dependent manner. Contributes to restore the SNCA anti-apoptotic function abolished by 6OHDA. Not found in the Lewy bodies associated with Parkinson disease. -
Tissue specificity
Expressed predominantly in brain; concentrated in presynaptic nerve terminals. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the synuclein family. -
Post-translational
modificationsPhosphorylated. Phosphorylation by G-protein coupled receptor kinases (GRK) is more efficient than phosphorylation by CK1, CK2 and CaM-kinase II. -
Cellular localization
Cytoplasm. - Information by UniProt

All lanes : HRP Anti-beta Synuclein antibody [EP1537Y] (ab215783) at 1/5000 dilution
Lane 1 : Brain (Mouse) Tissue Lysate
Lane 2 : Brain (Human) Tissue Lysate - adult normal tissue
Lysates/proteins at 10 µg per lane.
Developed using the ECL technique.
Performed under reducing conditions.
Predicted band size: 14 kDa
Observed band size: 18 kDa why is the actual band size different from the predicted?
Exposure time: 4 minutesThis blot was produced using a 4-12% Bis-tris gel under the MES buffer system. The gel was run at 200V for 35 minutes before being transferred onto a Nitrocellulose membrane at 30V for 70 minutes. The membrane was then blocked for an hour using 2% Bovine Serum Albumin before being incubated with ab215783 overnight at 4°C. Antibody binding was visualised using ECL development solution ab133406.
