Target

  • Function

Cardiac hormone which may function as a paracrine antifibrotic factor in the heart. Also plays a key role in cardiovascular homeostasis through natriuresis, diuresis, vasorelaxation, and inhibition of renin and aldosterone secretion. Specifically binds and stimulates the cGMP production of the NPR1 receptor. Binds the clearance receptor NPR3.
  • Tissue specificity

Brain and also in atria, but at much lower levels than ANP.
  • Sequence similarities

Belongs to the natriuretic peptide family.
  • Cellular localization

    Secreted.
  • Target information above from: UniProt accession P16860 The UniProt Consortium

    Question

Inquiry: Dear Sir/Madam, I am looking for antibodies directed at or cross-reactive with rat NT-pro-BNP. Preferably monoclonal and source from any species. There are multiple monoclonal available on your site, but directed to human. Do you have antibodies that are crossreactive to rat. Best Regards,

    Answer

Thank you very much for your inquiry.

I have to confirm that do not have any pro-BNP antibodies that are tested and guaranteed for rat.

I checked the immunogens for the available pro-BNP antibodies and unfortunately I cannot recommend any of for testing in rat.

We usually expect an cross-reaction when the homology is 85% and higher. But the different regions that the immunogens are taken from only show 62% and less homology:

    AA 1-12 no homology
    AA 13-27 58%
    AA 28-45 62%
    AA 61-76 no homology.

I am sorry I could not be of more help on thisoccasion and wish you goo dluck with your research.
