Target

  • Relevance

Streptococci form part of the normal human flora that resides on the skin, and can also colonise the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary tracts. Streptococci can cause a range of diseases, from the less serious but common sore throats and skin infections to life threatening conditions such as necrotising fasciitis. Different streptococcal species are involved in human disease, broadly categorised as pus forming or pyogenic streptococci, non pus forming or non pyogenic streptococci, and Streptococcus pneumoniae. Streptococci are classified into Lancefield serotypes by their cell wall polysaccharide antigens. Group A are primarily pathogens. Group B streptococci (including Streptococcus agalactiae) are the leading bacterial causes of human neonatal illness and death causing opportunistic invasive disease in pregnant women such as preterm labour, membrane rupture and urinary tract infections and sepsis and meningitis in newborns.

    Answer

Thank you very much for your reply. I am pleased to offer a discount off a future purchase if you buy abb53584 now, test it in IHC-P and submit feedback to us in the form of an Abreview. It doesn’t matter whether the Abreview is positive or negative, we would just really like to receive your feedback. The discount would be to the value of 1 free primary antibody. If you are interested in this offer, please follow these steps: 1. Reply to this e-mail to let me know that you would like to proceed and test abb53584 in IHC-P. I will then send a discount code. This code must be issued before purchasing abb53584 so please wait for my reply before ordering. 2. Purchase abb53584 either by phone, fax, or online (www.abcam.com). 3. Test it in IHC-P. 4. Let us know the results, positive or negative, using our Abreview system (this will take about 10 minutes and images are great if you have them!). To find out how to submit an Abreview, please visit: https://www.abcam.com/abreviews. 5. After the review is submitted to us, the discount code becomes active. Simply place your new order by phone, fax, or on the web and mention the discount code. The discount can be redeemed for any primary antibody ordered and the discount code is valid for 4 months after issue. We are always pleased to obtain feedback about our products and any information is greatly appreciated! Even if abb53584 turns out to be unsuitable for IHC-P, you will still receive the discount on your next purchase after your Abreview has been submitted.   The Terms and Conditions of this offer can be found at: www.abcam.com/collaborationdiscount. Please let me know if you have any questions about this offer and I would be happy to help you further.

    Question

Hi there, I am seeking some help and advice in order to choose wisely an antibody for some IHC purpose.   I need an antibody against Stretococcus agalactiae (also called Group B Streptococcus). But: - I am working with formalin fixed tissues from fish. - The tissues are infected with a fish specific Streptococcus agalactie: these are genetically and phenotypically very distinct from the Streptococcus agalactiae causing infection in humans or bovines. I tried already to do some IHC using an antibody from another company (QED Bioscience) but it did not work, and I do believe it is because the immunogen used to produce the antibody was from a human strain, and this specific immunogen is not shared between human and fish strains. The only immunogen that is guaranteed to work would be the group B specific polysaccharide ( the one used for Lancefield group B tests). à Would you have such product? I think your products ab68883 or ab68884 would suit, but could you confirm that to me?   Many thanks for your time,   Best regards,

    Answer

Thank you for your enquiry. I am sorry to confirm that these two antibodies (ab68883 or ab68884) have not been tested in IHC-P or on the specific Streptococcus agalactie you wish to detect. All tested and guaranteed applications are specified on our datasheets, and these are updated as soon as any new information is brought to our attention. I am sorry we have no suitable tested antibodies to suggest on this occasion.  If you would like to test the antibody in IHC-P,  please contact our Scientific Support team prior to the purchase by replying to this message as you may be eligible for our testing discount program. Otherwise, we like to encourage all of our customers to submit an Abreview via the online product datasheet. We always appreciate customer feedback, whether positive or negative, and we make all product information available to researchers. Plus, each Abreview earns Abpoints that can be used for discounts on future purchases or rewards such as Amazon.com gift certificates. To find out more about our Abreview system, please see the following link: https://www.abcam.com/abreviews I hope this information is helpful. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any further advice or information.
