Preparation and Storage

  • Stability and Storage

    Shipped at 4°C. Upon delivery aliquot and store at -20°C. Avoid freeze / thaw cycles.

  • Reconstitution
    Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in sterile distilled Water to a concentration equivalent to 100 µg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HAS or BSA).

  • Relevance

    ACTH occurs in cells of the anterior pituitary and in neurons in brain. It regulates the corticosteroid production in the adrenal cortex. Beta endorphin and Met enkephalin are endogenous opiates. MSH (melanocyte stimulating hormone) increases the pigmentation of skin by increasing melanin production in melanocytes.
