  • Product overview

Abcam’s Albumin Human in vitro competitive ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for the measurement of albumin in Human plasma and serum.

An albumin specific antibody has been precoated onto 96-well plates and blocked. Standards or test samples are added to the wells and subsequently biotinylated albumin is added and then followed by washing with wash buffer. Streptavidin-Peroxidase Complex is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with wash buffer. TMB is then used to visualize Streptavidin-Peroxidase enzymatic reaction. TMB is catalyzed by Streptavidin-Peroxidase to produce a blue color product that changes into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow coloration is inversely proportional to the amount of albumin captured in plate.

Get results in 90 minutes with Human Serum Albumin ELISA Kit (ab179887) from our SimpleStep ELISA® range.

The entire kit may be stored at -20°C for long term storage before reconstitution - Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

We have used human plasma at a dilution of 10,000x. Rat plasma was also tested at 50x but there was no cross-reactivity.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. I am sorry to hear you have had difficulty obtaining consistent results from this kit.

I would like to reassure you that this antibody is tested and covered by our 6 month guarantee forELISA and human samples. In the event that a product is not functioning in the tested applications and species cited on the product data sheet (and the problem has been reported within 6 months of purchase), we will be pleased to provide a credit note, free of charge replacement or refund.

I would like to investigate this particular case further for you, and also obtain more information for our quality monitoring records. In order to proceed with this, I have enclosed a technical questionnaire below. I would appreciate if you could complete this. It will help you put the information we require together very easily.

I would appreciate if you could are also able toprovidestandard curve data from each of the kits you have used, which would help us to assess the results.

Thank you for your time and cooperation. We look forward to receiving the completed questionaire.

A. General Information
- Catalogue number:

- Lot number:

- Purchase order number/ order date or preferably the Abcam order number:

- How was the kit stored?

B. Description of the problem
- Are the signals you obtained with control or standard satisfactory? (Yes/No);

- Are the sample readings as expected or inconsistent?

- Are the blank readings as expected?

- Other (e.g. missing components)

C. What do you think the problem is caused by? E.g. enzyme is faulty, developer is faulty or other component that you think might be faulty.

D. Sample
- Sample Type (e.g. Cell culture supernatant, Cell lysates, Tissue lysates or Serum samples)

- Sample Species (e.g. human, mouse or rat)

- Storage (at what temperature and for how long were the samples stored?)

- Sample treatment, if any

- Sometime proteins in samples interfere with readings. Have you removed proteins?

- Sample preparation

E. Protocol used:
Did you follow the protocol exactly as given on the datasheet?

F. Optimization attempts (problem solving); please describe any deviations from the protocol.

G. Have you used the same kit successfully before?

H. Do you obtain the same results every time?

Thank you very much for your call this week and for your patience while I've been in touch with the lab.

The lab scientists do not recommend using a different buffer with this kit, as the results will be less than optimal. I'm arranging for a free of charge bottle of the wash buffer to be sent to you. Could you let me know your original order or PO number?

Please let me know if there is anything else that we can do for you, and I'll be happy to help.

Hope you are well?
Thank you for your enquiry and interest.
We would be very much interested in these data. Will the customer measure the secreted Albumin into the medium? Would it be possible to get some further information about the experimental set up?
Typically, researchers can submit a product review via an online submission form. At this time we do not have an Abreview form available for submitting reviews on this product. As an alternative, please email your review of ab108787 to me at First.Last@abcam.com.

Thank you for your inquiry and you positive feedback.

Please see my answers to your questions below:

1. I can confirm that the kits ab108902 (Transferrin Human ELISA Kit) and ab108788 (Albumin Human ELISA kit) were especially optimised for cell culture samples and I recommend to choose them for the experiment.

2. We do offer bulk oder discounts. If you order 5 or more products you will get a discount. For 6 products you will currently get a 5% discount. Please do not forget to mention that when ordering. If you are planning to order more than 10 products, please contact our customer service department with the numbers and they might be able to offer you a higher discount.

3. I can confirm that c stands for competitive ELISA and s stands for sandwich ELISA. In a competitive ELISA the competitor is labeled with biotin and the amount of the bound competitor is measured. This means that a high OD indicates a low amount of the protein of interest in your sample. A low OD means that the competitor has been ousted and there is a high amount of the protein of interest in the sample.

4. I can confirm that the main difference between these two kits is the sensitivity. Both are suitable for cell culture supernatant, urine, serum, plasma.

Our Abpromise guarantee applies to all these kits.

I hope this information is helpful and wish you good luck with your experiments. Please do not hesitate to contact me again with any further questions.
