Specifications

Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab104442 in the following tested applications.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

  • Form

    Liquid
  • Additional notes

    - First try to dissolve a small amount of peptide in either water or buffer. The more charged residues on a peptide, the more soluble it is in aqueous solutions.
    - If the peptide doesn’t dissolve try an organic solvent e.g. DMSO, then dilute using water or buffer.
    - Consider that any solvent used must be compatible with your assay. If a peptide does not dissolve and you need to recover it, lyophilise to remove the solvent.
    - Gentle warming and sonication can effectively aid peptide solubilisation. If the solution is cloudy or has gelled the peptide may be in suspension rather than solubilised.
    - Peptides containing cysteine are easily oxidised, so should be prepared in solution just prior to use.

  • Function

Cadherins are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types.
  • Sequence similarities

    Contains 5 cadherin domains.
  • Domain

Three calcium ions are usually bound at the interface of each cadherin domain and rigidify the connections, imparting a strong curvature to the full-length ectodomain.
  • Cellular localization

    Cell membrane.

    Question

I am writing in behalf of the Physiology of Glutamergic Synapses Team
    (http://www.iins.u-bordeaux2.fr/project-overview).
In course of experimental studies we have obtained some promising
results with two of the antibodies that are in Abcam's offer. One of
them is anti-Cadherin-9 (ab93842), another one is anti-C1QL2
(ab92708). We would like to confirm the specificity of these
immunodetections with preabsorption experiments. For these we need
peptides used for immunization against Cadherin-9 and C1QL2. Is it
possible to buy these peptides from Abcam or at least to know their
exact sequence, so we could do the synthesis on our own? I enclose a
figure to demonstrate the immunoreactivity of antibodies that we
    observe within mouse hippocampus.
