    Abcam’s EGFR (ERBB) Human ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human EGFR in serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants.

    This assay employs an antibody specific for Human EGFR coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and EGFR present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated antiHuman EGFR antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of EGFR bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

    Receptor for EGF, but also for other members of the EGF family, as TGF-alpha, amphiregulin, betacellulin, heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor, GP30 and vaccinia virus growth factor. Is involved in the control of cell growth and differentiation. Phosphorylates MUC1 in breast cancer cells and increases the interaction of MUC1 with SRC and CTNNB1/beta-catenin.
    Isoform 2 may act as an antagonist of EGF action.

    Monoubiquitinated and polyubiquitinated upon EGF stimulation; which does not affect tyrosine kinase activity or signaling capacity but may play a role in lysosomal targeting. Polyubiquitin linkage is mainly through 'Lys-63', but linkage through 'Lys-48', 'Lys-11' and 'Lys-29' also occur.

Unfortunately we haven't tested ab100505 for its cross-reactivity with EGFR ligands such as EGF, Amphiregulin, STAT1, etc. However, we would not think that EGFR and its ligands would be very similar so we would not expect the kit to detect them. The only way to know for sure though would be to test and see.

We have two P53 related kits in our catalogue ab46067 and ab46113. These kids have been tested and fully guaranteed to be used with human serum samples. In any case if these does not work we will be happy to provide troubleshooting suggestions. Please the Abpromise on our website;




The protocol suggest using 100ul of sample per well, so for duplicate in a serial dilution you would need 400ul of serum.

Again this kit is fully guaranteed and 100 ul sample per well is needed.

The number of kits you would need totally depends on the assay you device. These kits have enough material for 96 wells ELISA plate. The 96 wells can help in calculating the number of kits you would need for 100 patients. My suggestions would be

8x2 = 16 (standard in duplicate, serial diluted)
8x2 = 16 (Sample in duplicate, serially diluted, patient 1)

the rest 64 wells can be used for 4 patients in duplicate (16 wells per sample) or for 8 patients. It totally depends on how you set up your experiment.

We will be happy to troubleshoot the protocol if these kits do not perform as suggest in the protocol, provided with the datasheet.
