  • Product overview

Abcam’s Estradiol E2 in vitro competitive ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for the accurate quantitative measurement of Estradiol E2 in Human serum.

A 96-well plate has been pre-coated with goat anti-rabbit IgG. Samples, standards and the rabbit anti-Estradiol E2 Reagent and Estradiol E2-HRP conjugate are added to the wells, where Estradiol E2 in the sample competes with the added Estradiol E2-HRP for antibody binding. After incubation, the wells are washed to remove unbound material and TMB substrate is then added which is catalyzed by HRP to produce blue coloration. The reaction is terminated by addition of Stop Solution which stops the color development and produces a color change from blue to yellow. The intensity of signal is inversely proportional to the amount of Estradiol E2 in the sample and the intensity is measured at 450 nm.

Human Estradiol ELISA kit

Good Excellent 5/5 (Ease of Use)
Abreviews
This assay was run using human plasma samples. This ELISA assay was easy to use. Standards and reagents were already prepared and directions were easy to follow. Data/duplicates came out well and the kit was relatively fast to complete.

We purchased this ELISA kit to screen aromatase inhibitor using cultured MCF-7 cells (ER-positive breast cancer cell line). Good amount of reagents are provided in easy-to-handle vials. Good data obtained with both trials.

Answer

Thank you for your enquiry. I am sorry to confirm that as far as we are aware, these kits have not been tested with samples from rat. All tested and guaranteed species cross-reactivity information is stated on our datasheets, and these are updated as soon as any new information is brought to our attention.   As far as I am aware,  testosterone and estradiol have the same structure in rat as in human, I would suggest these kits are likely to detect in rat.  However, as there are other factors that could affect the results in a different species, we would not be able to guarantee this without further testing.   If you would like to test these kits in rat, please contact me again by replying to this message prior to the purchase as you may be eligible for our testing discount program. Otherwise, we like to encourage all of our customers to submit an Abreview via the online product datasheet. We always appreciate customer feedback, whether positive or negative, and we make all product information available to researchers. Each Abreview earns Abpoints that can be used for discounts on future purchases or rewards such as Amazon.com gift certificates. To find out more about our Abreview system, please see the following link: https://www.abcam.com/abreviews I hope this information is helpful. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any further advice or information.
