  • Product overview

Abcam’s IL-1 alpha Human ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human IL-1 in serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants.

This assay employs an antibody specific for Human IL-1 alpha coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and IL-1 alpha present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human IL-1 alpha antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of IL-1 alpha bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Get higher sensitivity in only 90 minutes with Human IL-1a ELISA Kit (ab178008) from our SimpleStep ELISA® range.

  • Relevance

IL-1 alpha is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family. It is a pleiotropic cytokine involved in various immune responses, inflammatory processes, and hematopoiesis. IL-1 alpha is produced by monocytes and macrophages as a proprotein, which is proteolytically processed and released in response to cell injury, and thus induces apoptosis. This gene and eight other interleukin 1 family genes form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 2. It has been suggested that the polymorphism of these genes is associated with rheumatoid arthritis and Alzheimer's disease.

Thank you for your reply.

We do not have any antibodies against your target of interest that we can guarantee will work in bovine samples. However based on the homology information I provided in the previous email, I think there is a good chance that any of our antibodies would work for you.

The below links will take you lists for all of the antibodies we have against your targets of interest.

IL-1 alpha

IL-1 beta

If you wish to take advantage of our testing discount program to try these antibodies in bovine samples, or if there is anything else I can help you with, then please let me know.

Thank you for contacting Abcam.
I have searched through our catalogue, and I cannot find any ELISA kits that we can guarantee will work in bovine samples, but there are a few that might work for you.

Cross-reactivity tests with the ELISA kits listed have not been performed for bovine samples, but both forms of bovine IL-1 (alpha and beta) do exhibit a high degree of sequence homology with IL-1 gene products from mammalian species - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3261832.
The MMP-3 gene is conserved in human, chimpanzee, dog, cow, mouse, rat and chicken - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?db=gene&cmd=Retrieve&dopt=full_report&list_uids=281309&itool=HomoloGeneMainReport.
MMP-13 has 94% sequence homology with human MMP-13 - http://www.lsbio.com/Antibodies/MMP13-Antibody-LS-A1555/48142.
since we cannot guarantee that these antibodies would work for you in bovine samples, then you could take advantage of our 100% Testing discount program:
