    Abcam’s LEC (CCL16) Human ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human LEC in serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants.

    This assay employs an antibody specific for Human LEC coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and LEC present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Human LEC antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of LEC bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

  • Function

    Shows chemotactic activity for lymphocytes and monocytes but not neutrophils. Also shows potent myelosuppressive activity, suppresses proliferation of myeloid progenitor cells. Recombinant SCYA16 shows chemotactic activity for monocytes and THP-1 monocytes, but not for resting lymphocytes and neutrophils. Induces a calcium flux in THP-1 cells that were desensitized by prior expression to RANTES.
  • Tissue specificity

    Mainly expressed in liver, also found in spleen and thymus. Highly expressed in LPS- and IFN-gamma-activated monocytes, weakly in some lymphocytes, including natural killer cells, gamma-delta T-cells, and some T-cell clones.
