Reconstitution instructions: To use as a WB control, resuspend in 45 µL of Sample buffer (40% (w/v) Glycerol, 4% (w/v) Lithium Dodecyl Sulfate, 4% Ficoll 400, 0.025% Phenol Red, 0.025% Brilliant Blue G250, 2 mM EDTA) and 5 µL of DTT to resuspend @ 2mg/ml. Mix well, then boil the sample for 10 minutes before loading it onto the gel.
User storage instructions: Upon receiving, lysate can be diluted with 1 x SDS sample buffer & will be stable at -20°C for 12 months. Long term storage at -80°C.

FunctionWeakly binds calcium but binds zinc very tightly-distinct binding sites with different affinities exist for both ions on each monomer. Physiological concentrations of potassium ion antagonize the binding of both divalent cations, especially affecting high-affinity calcium-binding sites. Binds to and initiates the activation of STK38 by releasing autoinhibitory intramolecular interactions within the kinase. Interaction with AGER after myocardial infarction may play a role in myocyte apoptosis by activating ERK1/2 and p53/TP53 signaling.
Tissue specificityAlthough predominant among the water-soluble brain proteins, S100 is also found in a variety of other tissues.
