    This antibody is specific to a 55 kDa protein known as interleukin 2-receptor (IL-2R alpha). IL-2R alpha is over expressed on the surface of activated T cell, HTLV-1 or HTLV-2 positive T cell lines and moderately expressed on activated B cells, NK-cells and macrophages.

    Genetic variations in IL2RA are associated with susceptibility to diabetes mellitus insulin-dependent type 10 (IDDM10) [MIM:601942]. A multifactorial disorder of glucose homeostasis that is characterized by susceptibility to ketoacidosis in the absence of insulin therapy. Clinical fetaures are polydipsia, polyphagia and polyuria which result from hyperglycemia-induced osmotic diuresis and secondary thirst. These derangements result in long-term complications that affect the eyes, kidneys, nerves, and blood vessels.

  • ab9496 - immunohistochemistry

    Formalin fixed paraffin embedded human tonsil stained with CD25, using ABC and AEC chromagen.

  • Overlay histogram showing Jurkat cells stained with ab9496 (red line). The cells were fixed with 80% methanol (5 min) and incubated in 1x PBS / 10% normal goat serum / 0.3M glycine to block non-specific protein-protein interactions. The cells were then incubated with the antibody (ab9496, 1/50 dilution) for 30 min at 22ºC. The secondary antibody used was DyLight® 488 goat anti-mouse IgG (H+L) (ab96879) at 1/500 dilution for 30 min at 22ºC. Isotype control antibody (black line) was mouse IgG1 [ICIGG1] (ab91353, 2µg/1x106 cells) used under the same conditions. Acquisition of >5,000 events was performed.

This antibody has never been tested in flow cytometry, therefore we can't guarantee results. However, being as this antibody recognises a cell surface marker, I would assume it would work in flow but as previously stated I can't be certain.
