Involvement in diseaseGenetic variations in IL6 are associated with susceptibility to rheumatoid arthritis systemic juvenile (RASJ) [MIM:604302]. An inflammatory articular disorder with systemic-onset beginning before the age of 16. It represents a subgroup of juvenile arthritis associated with severe extraarticular features and occasionally fatal complications. During active phases of the disorder, patients display a typical daily spiking fever, an evanescent macular rash, lymphadenopathy, hepatosplenomegaly, serositis, myalgia and arthritis.
Note=A IL6 promoter polymorphism is associated with a lifetime risk of development of Kaposi sarcoma in HIV-infected men.

Immunohistochemistry with ab208113 showing nuclear positivity of islets of Langerhans (brown staining) and cytoplasmic staining in mouse pancreas at 10x and 20x (B and C). Staining was performed on Leica Bond system using the standard protocol. Formalin fixed/paraffin embedded tissue sections were subjected to antigen retrieval with E1 (Leica Microsystems) retrieval solution for 20 minutes and then incubated with ab208113 at 1/50 dilution for 60 minutes. Biotinylated Anti-rabbit secondary antibody was used at 1/200 dilution to detect primary antibody. The reaction was developed using streptavidin-HRP conjugated compact polymer system and visualized with chromogen substrate, 3’3-diamino-benzidine substrate (DAB). The sections were then counterstained with hematoxylin to detect cell nuclei.
Negative control: primary antibody was omitted (A).
