  • Function

    Function as an agonist of NF-kappa B activation through the orphan IL-1-receptor-related protein 2. Could constitute part of an independent signaling system analogous to interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1A), beta (IL-1B) receptor agonist and interleukin-1 receptor type I (IL-1R1), that is present in epithelial barriers and takes part in local inflammatory response.
  • Tissue specificity

    Highly expressed in tissues containing epithelial cells: skin, lung, stomach and esophagus. In skin is expressed only in keratinocytes but not in fibroblasts, endothelial cells or melanocytes. Up-regulated in lesional psoriasis skin.

I have been in contact with the lab regarding ab156783.

ab156783 is raised against a full length human recombinant protein of human IL1F9(NP_062564) produced in HEK293T cell and unfortunately, we haven't done epitope mapping, so we are not sure where the antibody binds to human IL1F9 protein.

We also have never tested the cross-reactivity of this antibody to other IL-36 family members (IL-36a, IL-36b, IL-36Ra).

I have tried to look at the available literature for this clone to see whether this testing has been done elsewhere but unfortunately was unsuccessful in finding any additional information.
