    Infectious bronchitis is an acute and highly contagious respiratory disease of chickens. The disease is characterized by respiratory signs including gasping, coughing, sneezing, tracheal râles, and nasal discharge. It is caused by a coronavirus. It is an enveloped, single stranded RNA virus. Three virus specific proteins have been identified; the spike glycoprotein, the membrane or matrix glycoprotein, and the nucleocapsid protein.
