Target

  • Function
    Produces nitric oxide (NO) which is a messenger molecule with diverse functions throughout the body. In macrophages, NO mediates tumoricidal and bactericidal actions. Also has nitrosylase activity and mediates cysteine S-nitrosylation of cytoplasmic target proteins such COX2.

    Expressed in the liver, retina, bone cells and airway epithelial cells of the lung. Not expressed in the platelets.

  • Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence  analysis of IFN-γ/LPS-activated RAW-264.7 (Mouse macrophage cell line transformed with Abelson murine leukemia virus) cells labeling iNOS  with ab49999 at 1/2000 dilution.

    Cells were fixed and permeabilized with 4% paraformaldehyde and 0.5% Triton™ X-100. The antibody was developed using Goat anti-Mouse IgG, Cy3-conjugate. Cells were counterstained with DAPI (blue) to stain nuclei.

Thank you for your interest.

The immunogen used to raise ab49999 was a synthetic peptide: FSYGAKKGSALEEPKATRL conjugated to KLH, corresponding to amino acids 1126-1144 of Mouse iNOS.

According to blast search the aa homology between rat and mouse iNOS is 94% and we do have cross-reactivity data proving the reactivity with Rattus norvegicus.

However, with human and Macaca monkey the homology is only 80% and we expect hat with pig is is even lower (but no data available).

I regret to inform you that this antibody is very unlikely to detect porcine iNOS so we can't offer a discount code for testing ab49999 in pig.

Your customer may wish to consider ab3523 which was raised suing a different immunogen (DLKEEKDINNNVKKT, corresponding to amino acids 17-31 of Mouse iNOS). It has been tested for cross-reactivity with Mouse, Rat, Chicken, Dog, Human, Xenopus laevis.
