ENOS iNOS and pan NOS are members of the nitric oxide synthase (NOS) family which are enzymes responsible for synthesizing nitric oxide (NO) from L-arginine. eNOS or endothelial NOS has a mass of approximately 134 kDa and is mostly expressed in endothelial cells. iNOS or inducible NOS is expressed in several cell types like macrophages and often shows increased expression under inflammatory conditions. Pan NOS refers collectively to all NOS enzymes indicating their varied but essential roles in NO production across different tissues.
Biological function summary

The nitric oxide produced by these enzymes is an important signaling molecule involved in numerous physiological processes. eNOS generates NO to regulate vascular tone by promoting vasodilation which is critical for blood pressure control. iNOS unlike eNOS usually appears as a response to inflammatory cytokines and microbial products playing a role in immune defense by producing larger quantities of NO. NOS enzymes often form complexes with other proteins like calmodulin to modulate their activity.
