Interpolated concentrations of native MICB in human cell culture supernatant sample.
The concentrations of MICB were measured in duplicates, interpolated from the MICB standard curves and corrected for sample dilution. Undiluted sample is as follows : MCF-7 supernatant 100%. The interpolated dilution factor corrected values are plotted (mean +/- SD, n=2). The mean MICB concentration was determined to be 520.4 pg/mL in MCF-7 supernatant.

Human MICB ELISA Kit (ab267804) is a single-wash 90 min sandwich ELISA designed for the quantitative measurement of MICB protein in cell culture supernatant, edta plasma, hep plasma, serum, and cit plasma. It uses our proprietary SimpleStep ELISA® technology. Quantitate Human MICB with 59.9 pg/ml sensitivity.
SimpleStep ELISA® technology employs capture antibodies conjugated to an affinity tag that is recognized by the monoclonal antibody used to coat our SimpleStep ELISA® plates. This approach to sandwich ELISA allows the formation of the antibody-analyte sandwich complex in a single step, significantly reducing assay time. See the SimpleStep ELISA® protocol summary in the image section for further details. Our SimpleStep ELISA® technology provides several benefits:
- Single-wash protocol reduces assay time to 90 minutes or less

MHC class I polypeptide-related sequence B (MICB) is a stress induced ligand for the KLRK1/NKG2D receptor that neither associate with β2-microglobins nor bind peptides. The MICB protein is encoded by the MICB gene located within the MHC locus and are commonly expressed on tumors of epithelial origin.

Biological function summary
MICB contributes to immune system functioning by presenting stress-induced antigens to immune cells. It does not belong to a complex but engages in interactions critical for activating cytotoxic responses. By binding to the NKG2D receptor it helps activate NK cells and certain T cell subsets which results in the elimination of damaged or transformed cells. This immune activation is important for the surveillance against cancer and infected cells maintaining tissue homeostasis.
Pathways
MICB plays a role in the stress-induced NKG2D signaling pathway and is involved in the immune response pathway. It cooperates with proteins such as NKG2D and MICA another ligand of the NKG2D receptor to initiate immune cell-mediated cytotoxicity. These pathways activate NK cells and CD8+ T cells important for removing stressed or altered cells thereby influencing the body's defense mechanisms.
