Abcam's Fractalkine Rat ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Rat Fractalkine in serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants.

This assay employs an antibody specific for Rat Fractalkine coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and Fractalkine present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-Rat Fractalkine antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP-conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of Fractalkine bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

The standard is affinity purified.

CX3CL1 also known as fractalkine is a chemokine protein characterized mechanically by its dual function as both a chemoattractant and adhesion molecule. It exhibits a unique membrane-bound structure and can exist in a soluble form after proteolytic cleavage. The mass of CX3CL1 is approximately 42-45 kDa. The CX3CR1-CX3CL1 signaling exerts distinct functions in different tissue compartments, such as immune response, inflammation, cell adhesion and chemotaxis. Regulates leukocyte adhesion and migration processes at the endothelium. Can activate integrins in both a CX3CR1-dependent and CX3CR1-independent manner. In the presence of CX3CR1, activates integrins by binding to the classical ligand-binding site (site 1) in integrins.
