Biological function summary
ARRDC4 takes part in processes that control receptor recycling and degradation. It does not exist in isolation and works as part of a larger network involving other arrestin proteins. This protein associates with endosomal systems inside cells guiding the internalization and sorting of membrane proteins. By mediating these processes ARRDC4 influences receptor availability on the cell surface affecting cellular response to external signals.
Pathways
ARRDC4 interacts with endocytic pathways to manage receptor internalization and trafficking playing a role in signaling cascades. The protein is found within the ubiquitination pathway where it connects with the NEDD4 E3 ligase family influencing the ubiquitination of membrane proteins. These interactions impact signal transduction pathways important for responses like cell growth and survival.
