ARRDC4 also known as arrestin domain-containing protein 4 plays a role in cellular trafficking processes. It is a small protein with a mass of about 41 kDa. This protein gets expressed in various tissues including the lung liver and adipose tissue. ARRDC4 serves as an adaptor protein that helps regulate endocytosis and recycling of different cell surface receptors which is important for maintaining cellular homeostasis.
Biological function summary

ARRDC4 takes part in processes that control receptor recycling and degradation. It does not exist in isolation and works as part of a larger network involving other arrestin proteins. This protein associates with endosomal systems inside cells guiding the internalization and sorting of membrane proteins. By mediating these processes ARRDC4 influences receptor availability on the cell surface affecting cellular response to external signals.
