B3GNT1 also known as UDP-GlcNAc:betaGal beta-13-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase 1 is an enzyme that participates in glycosylation processes by transferring N-acetylglucosamine from UDP-GlcNAc to polylactosamine chains playing an important role in the synthesis of poly-N-acetyllactosamine. This protein has a mass of approximately 43 kDa and predominantly expresses in tissues that produce substantial amounts of glycosylated molecules such as the brain and the gastrointestinal tract.

B3GNT1 contributes to the synthesis of glycan structures that are important for cell-cell interactions. It functions as an independent enzyme rather than as part of a larger enzymatic complex.
