Biological function summary
COTL1 plays an important role in the regulation of immune responses and inflammatory processes. It acts as a cofactor stabilizing the interaction between ALOX5 and actin filaments impacting the formation of leukotrienes which mediate immune responses. COTL1 is not known to be part of a larger protein complex but it influences the function of ALOX5 suggesting a collaborative role in cellular processes related to inflammation.
Pathways
COTL1 influences the biosynthesis of leukotrienes within the arachidonic acid metabolic pathway. This pathway is significant for inflammatory response modulation. COTL1 and ALOX5 together affect the production of leukotrienes providing a connection to the eicosanoid signaling pathway. This involvement positions COTL1 as an important regulator of inflammation.
