Biological function summary
DOCK6 acts as an activator of Rho family GTPases which play a central role in various cellular processes including cell migration adhesion and morphology. DOCK6 does not function as part of a larger multi-protein complex but interacts selectively with other proteins to exert its biological effects. The protein is important for proper neuronal network formation influencing the branching and guidance of axons and dendrites.
Pathways
DOCK6 is involved in the Rho GTPase signaling pathway and the cell polarity establishment pathway. In the Rho GTPase signaling pathway DOCK6 interacts closely with proteins such as Rac1 and Cdc42 to modulate cytoskeletal rearrangements. These signaling pathways are key for developmental processes and defects can lead to improper cellular functions impacting tissue architecture and organogenesis.
