제품 세부 정보

ab243012 is a BSA and Azide Free antibody supplied in an unconjugated format and it is suitable for sandwich ELISAs to quantify Human Ghrelin. The recommended pair for sandwich ELISA is:
Capture: ab243011, Human Ghrelin (Ghrelin-28) Capture Antibody (unconjugated)
Detector: ab243012, Human Ghrelin (Ghrelin-28) Detector Antibody (unconjugated)
The reference range value is 1.95 - 125 pg/ml.

Patented technology
Our RabMAb® technology is a patented hybridoma-based technology for making rabbit monoclonal antibodies. For details on our patents, please refer to RabMAb® patents.

What are the advantages of a recombinant monoclonal antibody?
This product is a recombinant monoclonal antibody, which offers several advantages including:

  • - High batch-to-batch consistency and reproducibility
  • - Improved sensitivity and specificity
  • - Long-term security of supply
  • - Animal-free batch production

For more information, read more on recombinant antibodies.

Conjugation ready
Our carrier-free antibodies are typically supplied in a PBS-only formulation, purified and free of BSA, sodium azide and glycerol. This conjugation-ready format is designed for use with fluorochromes, metal isotopes, oligonucleotides, and enzymes, which makes them ideal for antibody labelling, functional and cell-based assays, flow-based assays (e.g. mass cytometry) and Multiplex Imaging applications.

Use our conjugation kits for antibody conjugates that are ready-to-use in as little as 20 minutes with 1 minute hands-on-time and 100% antibody recovery: available for fluorescent dyes, HRP, biotin and gold.

Sandwich ELISA
The recommended antibody orientation is based on internal optimization for ELISA-based assays. Antibody orientation is assay dependent and needs to be optimized for each assay type. Please note that the range provided for this antibody is only an estimation based on the performance of the product using the recommended antibody pair. Performance of the antibody pair will depend on the specific characteristics of your assay. We guarantee the product works in sandwich ELISA, but we do not guarantee the sensitivity or dynamic range of the antibody in your assay.

Ghrelin also known as Ghrelin-28 is a peptide hormone with a mass of approximately 3.3 kDa. It functions as an important regulator of appetite and energy balance. Ghrelin is secreted mainly by the stomach's enteroendocrine cells particularly the P/D1 cells in humans. In addition it is present in smaller amounts in the pancreas intestines and hypothalamus. The peptide is known for its ability to stimulate the release of growth hormone from the anterior pituitary gland acting via the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R).
Biological function summary

Ghrelin plays a significant role in hunger signaling and energy homeostasis. It is not typically part of a protein complex but acts as a ligand for GHS-R. By binding to the receptor in the brain especially in the hypothalamus Ghrelin promotes food intake and can influence body weight regulation. The hormone also affects glucose metabolism and has impacts on cardiovascular functions. Its presence in the gastrointestinal tract suggests involvement in gastric motility and acid secretion.

Pathways

Ghrelin is notably involved in the GH/IGF-1 axis and the central nervous system pathways that regulate appetite. The ghrelin/GHS-R interaction engages pathways that include the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) which contribute to its metabolic effects. Ghrelin also interacts with proteins such as leptin and insulin both of which play important roles in energy and glucose homeostasis creating a complex interplay that influences overall metabolic state.

Ghrelin has been linked to obesity and cachexia. Elevated levels of Ghrelin can lead to increased appetite and weight gain making it relevant for obesity research. Conversely reduced Ghrelin activity may contribute to conditions like cachexia where there is significant weight loss and muscle wasting as seen in cancer patients. Alterations in Ghrelin expression or function can also impact insulin levels connecting it to diabetes-related conditions. Understanding Ghrelin's interactions with proteins like leptin and insulin provides insights into potential therapeutic strategies for managing these metabolic disorders.

Ghrelin-27. Ghrelin is the ligand for growth hormone secretagogue receptor type 1 (GHSR) (PubMed : 10604470). Induces the release of growth hormone from the pituitary (PubMed : 10604470). Has an appetite-stimulating effect, induces adiposity and stimulates gastric acid secretion. Involved in growth regulation.. Ghrelin-28. Obestatin. May be the ligand for GPR39. May have an appetite-reducing effect resulting in decreased food intake. May reduce gastric emptying activity and jejunal motility (By similarity).
